In his candidacy for the Alameda County Democratic Central Commitee, Adrien Abuyen is committed to championing democratic policies and supporting candidates who spearhead meaningful and tangible change for ordinary citizens. Guided by principles of integrity and innovation, his agenda prioritizes fostering robust voter education and engagement, ensuring public safety in our communities, and fostering a democratic party that prioritizes reasonable and pragmatic problem solving.

Adrien Abuyen is proud to be a first-generation Filipino and Mexican college graduate from UC Berkeley and an alumnus of the Peralta Community College District (PCCD). Inspired by his family’s roots in the United Farm Workers movement, he embodies the values of integrity, dignity, innovation, and a resolute “si se puede” attitude.

While at UC Berkeley, Adrien gained premier training in human-centered design and social entrepreneurship as a RepresentEd Leadership fellow and cultivated his community organizing skills as the Vice President of CalACLU during a time when DACA was under attack. He utilizes these skills and lived experience to focus people and the community at the center of all of his work and strongly believes in the life-changing power of education. As a former Student Trustee of PCCD, Adrien advocated for equity, access, and inclusion by organizing and facilitating collaboration amongst student leaders, faculty, and top-level administrators to work on matters that improve student success which included improved access to public transportation, reliable internet connection, real student representation in participatory governance, state-level representation at the California Community College, and food insecurity.

In 2018, Adrien served as a Legislative Intern in Washington, D.C. for Senator Dianne Feinstein with a legislative portfolio focused on matters of education and healthcare. He returned to California and gained experience in public affairs in the areas of outreach and strategic partnerships, government relations, and supplier diversity with the mission of helping organizations navigate the political landscape of local, regional, and state government. He then had the privilege of serving as the Director of Operations for SOS Meals on Wheels, the largest senior meal provider in the East Bay, with the mission of ensuring that homebound seniors in our community receive the sustenance and social support they need to live with dignified independence for as long as safely possible. To his core, he believes in bringing about positive and healing change in every role that he occupies and cultivating multi-generational relationships that result in lasting community impact.

Presently, Adrien serves as the Director of Public Affairs for the Kos Read Group, collaborating with civic-minded organizations to achieve results that matter and that are meaningful to the community. His civic service extends to various boards, including SOS Meals on Wheels and RepresentEd Leadership, and as an appointed delegate to the California Democratic Party for Congressmember Barbara Lee
